The Grant County Conservation District serves as a regional partner working to help conserve wildlife and their habitat.
We assist by:
-
Developing wildlife plans;
-
Providing technical assistance and cost-share for wildlife projects;
-
Partnering and consulting with agencies on projects and resource concerns; and
-
Teaching conservation education lessons and activities.
Our current wildlife projects and initiatives include:
-
Partnering with WDFW to construct artificial burrows for burrowing owls at historic locations;
-
Partnering with Pheasants Forever, Noxious Weed Control Board of Grant County and WA Department of Fish and Wildlife for circle corners for habitat;
-
Coordination of the annual Othello Sandhill Crane Festival;
-
Teaching Water on Wheels in our schools and community; and
-
Developing Trout in the Classroom and Monarch in the Classroom programs.
